We’re an independent, female-owned cider bar and bottle shop in the heart of Aberystwyth, Wales. We specialise in real cider, craft cider and craft ales, with over 100 drinks and over 100 board games to enjoy.

 

What does the name Tŷ Seidr mean?

Our name, Tŷ Seidr, is Welsh for “Cider House”.

What are your opening hours?

Our current opening hours are:

• Monday–Thursday: 6pm–10pm

• Friday: 4pm–11pm

• Saturday: 2pm–11pm

• Sunday: Closed

We’re also closed on Bank Holiday Mondays. Please note we change our hours over the summer, so please always check our Google listing for the most up-to-date times.

Are you the CAMRA Champion Cider Bar of Wales 2026?

Yes. We were named CAMRA Champion Cider Bar of Wales 2026, having first won Ceredigion and then West Wales Cider Bar of the Year. We’re now among the top 16 cider bars in the UK.

What makes you different?

We’re Aberystwyth’s only dedicated cider bar and bottle shop, bringing together a specialist cider range, craft drinks, over 100 board games and a friendly, independent atmosphere. We welcome cider lovers, craft-drink fans, board gamers, locals, students and visitors.

What cider do you serve?

We keep over 100 ciders at any time, with a regularly changing range of real cider, craft cider and perry from Wales and beyond — traditional still ciders, modern styles, bottles, cans, and our own Tŷ Seidr Tropical cider.

 

Do you sell your own cider?

Yes. Our Tŷ Seidr Tropical cider is now pouring, developed with one of Somerset’s top cider producers and blending apple, passionfruit, mango and pineapple. Trade customers can order UK-wide via Eebria Trade or the link on our website.

Do you serve craft ales and beers?

Yes. Alongside cider, we offer a regularly changing selection of craft ales and beers, so there’s usually something new to try.

Do you serve food?

We don’t serve meals, but we offer bar snacks such as crisps and nuts to enjoy with your drink. You are welcome to bring your own food in provided you take your rubbish with you.

Can I take my drinks away?

Yes. We’re both a bar and a bottle shop, so you can drink in or take selected bottles and cans away. Takeaway drinks get a 5% discount.

Do you have board games?

Yes. We have over 100 board games to play in the venue, from quick social games to longer strategy titles.

 

Are the board games free to play?

Everyone playing buys a drink (soft or alcoholic). If you’d rather not drink, there’s a £3 per person board-game charge.

Do you host board game nights?

Yes. We run regular board game nights and are a friendly social hub for locals, students and visitors.

 

Do you allow tabletop role-playing games (TTRPGs)?

Not currently. Our space is limited, so we can’t host TTRPG campaigns but we’re happy to point you towards local venues and groups that do. Just get in touch.

Are you suitable for groups?

Yes. We’re a relaxed spot for friends, small groups and board-game meetups, with comfortable seating for social evenings.

Are dogs welcome?

Yes. Well-behaved dogs on leads are welcome alongside their humans.

Can children come in?

Yes. Accompanied children are welcome until 8pm.

Are you close to public transport?

Yes. We’re in the town centre on Corporation Street, a short walk from Aberystwyth bus and train stations.

 

Is there parking nearby?

Yes. There’s unrestricted on-street parking directly outside on Corporation Street.

 

Do you host events? Yes. We host occasional events, board game nights and community gatherings. Check our website, Google profile and social media for what’s on.

Are you only for cider drinkers?

Not at all. We love cider, but we also stock a wide range of craft beer, lager and spirits, and our team is happy to help you choose.

Do you have low and no-alcohol drinks?

Yes. We stock over 50 low and no-alcohol drinks, plus a small selection of fruit teas and black coffee.

 

Can I buy gift vouchers or merchandise?

Yes. Gift vouchers and merchandise are available in the bar and on our website. Ask the team or check our merchandise page for current stock.

 

Do you offer student society sponsorship?

We don’t offer sponsorship, but student societies are welcome to use our space for board-game socials. We just ask that anyone playing buys a drink (soft or alcoholic).

 

Do you show sports?

No, we don’t show sports.

 

Are you wheelchair accessible?

Partly. Our team can help you into the bar and our tables can accommodate wheelchair users, but our toilets are not currently accessible.

 

Do you accept cash and card?

Yes, we accept both cash and card (£3 minimum on card).
